Greetings Blog Friends, Remember that pile of projects that needed to be documented in the Quilt Diary? Well, once I got everything sorted, I discovered that I had 20+ projects from all of 2019 to scrap. So, I spent last Friday, Saturday, Sunday and part of Monday, scrapping away and got the year caught up. I have 5 projects to do for the start of 2020 and will take care of those very soon. Here are the projects that needed to be done for 2019:
And here is the pile of pages that were completed:
My favorites:
I was busy this past weekend, catching up on my Sewing Basket mystery quilt blocks. More on that next post...
Greetings Blog Friends, Just a quick post to show you the latest blocks in the 20 Twenty Mystery Quilt from the Sewing Basket quilt shop in Plymouth, WI. Here are my latest blocks. Not my favorites, color-wise (especially Block 6), but done and the triangle points all match!
I might remake them after all the blocks are done, if I have enough leftover fabrics. Or, they might just grow on me and I'll leave them as is. For right now, I'm happy they are done! Two more blocks coming Wednesday and Friday this week. Till next time...
Greetings Blog Friends, The CDC has now suggested that we all start wearing home-made fabric face masks as added precautions during the current COVID19 crisis. I sifted through my stash closet and came up with a number of suitable fabrics (all high, quilt shop quality cottons) and a considerable length of 1/8" elastic. Here are the prototypes I made for Denis and myself:
A big THANK-YOU to skiptomylou.org for the pattern! So, I sent my daughters and families some fabric choices and here is my production line, all ready to begin sewing. Each mask takes about 10-15 minutes to make, including cutting. And here is the result, just before I package them up and send them off to my girls.
And here they all are, wearing them!
I used up the big wad of elastic I had, so now I am making masks with ties for other friends and family members. This pattern is endorsed by Froedtert Hospital and Medical College of Wisconsin.
Just doing my part to keep those I love safe! This week, I'll be sewing masks, but also switching gears to scrapbooking. I am embarrassed to show the pile of fabric odds and ends waiting to be incorporated into pages in the Quilt Diary. I've fallen behind, as I usually do, and the time has come to get this under control, since each time I open the cabinet door, something falls out!
I'll share my progress next post. Be well and be safe! Till next time...
Well, I've been busy this past week and have some "finishes" to share with you. Here is the finish of the table mat I began in Florida in February. Quilted and bound.
I still had some fabrics left over, and made an extra one...I'm sure I'll be able to use it somewhere at Christmastime. Or...maybe it will be a gift!
Here is another finish from a February project. I made this table runner and a curtain for my daughter Kristy, as a thank you for watching our house while we were in Florida and for handling snow clearance for us. The pillow cover was made with the small bits of leftovers from the jelly roll I used.
Here is a quilt for my grandson Conner, who will earn his Eagle Scout this summer. This will be a gift for Conner to commemorate his achievement. This will be a display wall quilt, and Denis will make a decorative hanger for it. The top is done. I have yet to make the back (again using leftover fabrics) and quilt it. The date of the award will be part of the label, so once quilted it will wait for binding, since I bind the label into a lower corner of each quilt I make.
I'm still sewing this week, making some very necessary and useful items for my family. More on that in a day or two. Till then...
