Guest Room Travel Decor

Greeting Blog Friends,

Ever since the guest room was liberated from Denis' desk last September, I've been working on the decor scheme, centered around our Travels.  The walls are a soft yellow, there is a Tiffany-style ceiling light fixture.  The dressers belonged to Denis' parents and the bed covering is one we used on this bed in our previous home.

My vision for this room is Travel.  Travel related items I've purchased or picked up on our travels adorn the walls and dressers.  The bookcase is full of travel related books.  A (future) quilt dedicated to Wisconsin will hang at the head of the bed.  Here are a couple of shots of the room so far:

My sewing plans for this room include:  a bed runner, window valance, pillowcases, pillow shams, throw pillows and a small dresser runner.    All are being made fabric line called World Traveler from Connecting Threads.  They featured this line last year.  A future quilt is also planned from the leftovers.  Here is a sneak peek of the bed runner:

I'll give you a full tour of the room and the accessories next post when everything is all done! (except for the quilt).

Till then...
